We will succeed together in 2012… because we care

We're members of the Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce for one simple reason: We care. We care about each other as friends. We care about seeing each other succeed. We care about the community. And we care so much that we'll reach out and help one another through networking, LEADS groups and volunteer service.

In 2012, my goal is that we will show even more that we care about each other's success, and that more of us will become one another's customers.

Our chamber made great progress in 2011. Under Chairman Brad Rice and our staff, we re-injected energy into City Slickers with a fun new venue, we increased the participation in the Chamber Golf Classic, and we had a most successful Empowered Woman's event.

As we move into the new year, we need to ask, "What truly defines the spirit and the fabric of our chamber?" It's that we do care about the success of those around us. We make friends with the people sitting beside us at a chamber luncheon or seminar. We volunteer together for City Slickers. We play together in the golf tournament. And we refer business back and forth to one another.

Look at what our best networkers do to become successful. They perform favors and refer business for other members before ever hoping or expecting a referral or introduction in return.

They recognize that unselfish service to fellow members is the right thing to do, and often the result is a series of referrals and introductions. They do it because they care.

In 2011 I saw businesses prosper because of their involvement in the chamber, where fellow members helped them grow their businesses. I'm looking forward to even more of that collaborative spirit this year.

For 2012, it's something old and something new. Look for the return of two past favorites, as we will produce a new printed chamber directory so you can keep a copy in your car and in your office; and welcome back Leadership Colleyville, the program that introduces emerging leaders to the community.

For something new, look forward to details about the Chamber App, which gives you a direct connection to the chamber on your iPhone or Android.
